The Landscapes of New Zealand's South Island: Vibing in Colours

As photographers, we are always searching for ways to add depth and narrative to our images. Recently, while editing my latest collection of New Zealand landscape shots, I found myself repeatedly returning to the aural and visual gem that is 'Pachai Nirame' from Alaipayuthey (and its Hindi version, 'Saathiye'). The way that song, cinematically brought to life by P.C. Sreeram, uses the language of colour – green for freshness, blue for vastness, red for passion – to visually express the nuances of love, truly struck a chord.

It got me thinking: how can Aotearoa's incredible natural spectrum, from the lush green forests to the stark icy blue and white glaciers, tell its own story through the very same colourful lens? While nowhere near as cinematic as the song itself, this proved a fun way to categorise the photos.
