Pooh and Piglet’s Playtime: Pregnancy Shoot
For one couple, the arrival of their little one inspired a uniquely endearing theme for their pregnancy photoshoot: the beloved world of Winnie the Pooh. Driven by the mother-to-be's idea, this session captured the genuine spirit of their journey.
The Piglet's endearing, slightly awkward presence, sporting Pooh's chosen pink t-shirt, revealed a story only they could tell. As a documentary photographer, respecting their creative agency is paramount to capturing an authentic and resonant document.
This shoot, infused with honey-sweet humour, transformed familiar props into a radiant celebration of motherhood. 🍯🐝
Comfort of a home setting
A home setting enabled a personal atmosphere, allowing the mother-to-be to fully relax.
For this, we incorporated sensory details — the grounding weight of a plushie, sunlit sheers, a soft throw — to foster real connection. It was lovely to see the couple pause their busy lives and share heartfelt thoughts on life and their growing family.
Balcony Bloom & Outdoor Play
The Pooh and Piglet shoot indoors was a hit, yet the balcony’s allure proved undeniable. Its soft, green-filtered light sparked an unplanned outdoor session, capturing the couple’s desire to embrace nature’s beauty. 🌿
The balcony's charm sparked a desire for more outdoor exploration. An unexpectedly convenient find in Parramatta, Sydney — a children's playground just moments from our location — became the impromptu setting for outdoor shots. For me, flexibility isn’t just a skill; it’s the very heartbeat of crafting memorable moments. It’s about embracing the flow and making each session uniquely personal.
At the children's playground, a wave of nostalgia washed over them, a playful glimpse into their own childhoods, while simultaneously preparing them for the joys ahead. Hand in hand, they strolled through tranquil greenery.
As a soft rain began, our handy umbrella became a haven, allowing the couple to embrace the drizzle's delight, before we wrapped our photoshoot with pizza!
